We are right on Interstate 10 at the intersection with Highway 90. The Tallahassee International Airport is right up the road. There are two hotels bordering the property and restaurants nearby.\nTalon is 1 ½ hours from Panama City\, 2 ½ hours from Jacksonville\, 4 ½ hours from Atlanta\, 6 hours from New Orleans\, 2 ½ from Mobile and about 4 from Orlando/Tampa. Or you can fly. Leave home Thursday and drive to Tallahassee\, attend class Friday\, Saturday and Sunday and drive home that evening\, better than you left.\nTalon’s staff has been training law enforcement officers for over 25 years and has taught close to 10\,000 civilians over the last 10 years. There are over 3\,000 members of the Talon Range and the range has a fully stocked pro-shop on site. We can provide anything you need for the class.\nTalon Holsters is on site and produces some of the finest custom rigs around as well as production concealed carry holsters made from US Steerhide. Want an exotic rig while you are here\, just ask.\nThe Talon Defender Series consists of three courses\, the Enhanced 250 Level\, the Advanced 350 Level and the Professional 450 Level. There are other supplementary courses as well such as Active Shooter Defense.\nEach of these Defender classes is three days or 24 hours of instruction. They cost $500 each and as such is as affordable as any of these types of training in the country.\nWhy spend thousands flying to the desert when you can stay right here in the South East and drive. Spend money on bullets\, not tickets.\nBut\, don’t let the price fool you. Talon’s instructor staff boasts current and former SWAT Team Leaders\, Snipers\, both military and law enforcement\, and lead trainers for state and local agencies. We teach what we lived.\nAt Talon\, we believe firearms and personal defense training goes beyond just shooting drills. We teach mindset\, because mindset matters. Understanding how your brain reacts to critical incident stress and preparing for that helps you win the fight and winning is what matters in a gunfight.\nOur Talon Defender 250 course is the next step beyond the basics and you’ll need to show evidence of competent firearms training before attending.\nWe’ll drill extensively on reloads and malfunctions to build your confidence and competence. All drills will be from concealment considering you will likely be carrying that way. We will drill you on transitioning from dominant to support side and on positional shooting. Moving and shooting and cover and concealment concepts will be taught. We will instruct on a universal understanding of when deadly force is justified and how to explain one’s actions. Then there is scenario based training based on your new skillset. The class culminates in a proficiency based qualification course that you must pass for each level of certification. Many of the drills you shoot will be ones you can take home and shoot to maintain your level of proficiency.\nDon’t depend on occasional trips to the range to build your skills. We all need to step outside our comfort zone and learn from others. Let our staff take you to the next level! Talon was founded on a passion for teaching\, not just instructing.
